Bollinger champagne has entered into one of the most enduring marketing partnerships with Motion Picture movie producers with the appearance of the champagne in two of the newest James bond movies- Quantum of Solace, and Casino Royale. Bollinger has been the top favourite champagne for James Bond since 1973 and has since appeared in not less than 13 movies since then. Having established the longest standing relationship between a movie franchise and a brand, Bollinger champagne has thus remained the number one champagne in the industry.
First of all , the Palate in the mouth is very fresh in the mid-morning period of between 10 and 11 am, therefore it is the best time to taste a champagne. Bollinger was also the first champagne ever to be presented to a Royal Warrant. Founded in 1829, the champagne received Prince of Wales warrant in 1885 and within the same year, it was introduced to Queen Victoria who also endorsed it. With its long history of endorsement, it is not surprising to see Bollinger champagne appearing in James Bond movies.
The first encounter of James Bond with Bollinger champagne was in the book- Diamonds are forever, when the literary James Bond received the champagne in his cabin from Tiffany case. In the movie Live and let die where James Bond was acted by Roger Moore, he was found to have ordered a slightly chilled Bollinger in his hotel room in San Moniquan. In the movie- Moonraker, Bollinger champagne was found in a cooler, right inside the Apollo airplane that crashes in the movie’s pre-title sequence. James Bond and Dolly were found drinking the Bollinger in the 1973 Vintage movie.
In the movie Octopussy, Octopussy herself was seen pouring a glass of Bollinger Traditional RD when she met James Bond in her room for the first time. Bond helped Octopussy pour her glass from the same Bollinger bottle and later on in the movie; Octopussy was found smashing the Bollinger champagne bottle on an intruder. The champagne was once again found when Octopussy was in a train in Germany with general Orlov and it looked like the same Vintage Bollinger champagne RD. In the movie- A view to Kill, Bollinger ’75 edition was found at a party hosted at Zorin’s horse castle.
In the movie- The living Daylight, where James Bond was acted by Timothy Dalton, a bottle of the champagne was bought at Harrods by Bond for general Koskov who delightedly exclaimed “Champagne Bollinger RD. simply the best”. In other movies such as License to kill, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The world is not enough, Die another day, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace, Bollinger champagne RD traditional and newer versions were found to have been used on several scenes.
If you wonder why Bollinger champagne has been the number champagne for James Bond movies, you don’t have to wonder for long, its simply the classy and distinctive taste the champagne has delivered since 1829 that makes it more unique and more preferred by Motion Picture movie producers.
