Decorating Your New Vacation Rental |

Whether you visit a vacation home annually or have just purchased one, you are going to want to make it cozy. Vacation rentals are not the same if they do not present us with all the comforts of home. Unlike your primary residence, you do not have to spend a whole lot to make sure your vacation home or rental is decorated beautifully. When you are decorating a vacation home for just yourself or your family, it is much easier to decorate as you know just which personal touches to add in. The first thing to consider about decorating your vacation home is the floor: carpet is rarely preferable to a more durable material for flooring. Especially in areas heavily trafficked, a better, and more durable, flooring material would be tile or hardwood floors. They are easier to clean and to replace if need be. A carpet is a viable option in bedrooms, and rugs are a great replacement in rooms that may get cold. One of the greatest things to have when you are away from home is a comfortable bed. Invest in a quality mattress and box spring for your second home. You may also buy a less expensive mattress and add a mattress pad to supplement. If you are heading to a rental property for a vacation, you may want to take along one of these mattress pads - it rarely costs over $100, and it is worth the purchase. Make sure your vacation home looks beautiful inside and out. Especially if it is a second home you've just purchased, it is always a good idea to invest in a new coat of paint - inside or out. Familiar and comforting shades are eggshell white or a satin finish, even going with a semi-gloss finish on the trim for more of a pop of color. If you are not renting out your vacation home in your absence, you may be attempted to go with the best furniture - but don't. Even your goals for your vacation home will change as you do, so it is not always kind to pay thousands of dollars on a sofa. Moreover, if you do decide to rent out the property, more the reason to buy less expensive as others may not treat it as kindly as your family might. Even when you routinely speak to a firm of vacation rental managers to help you maintain your home-away-from-home lifestyle, you can take part in all the comforts of your primary home.
