4 Important Tips for Planning Your Wedding Menu |
Posted: March 11, 2020 |
In the past when a bridge and good were to consider wedding food options they were limited to plated dinners or buffets. Today, though wedding catering can include such options as food stations, family-style dinner, cocktail receptions, and even food trucks are viable options for your wedding reception. Budget This factor will play most heavily in your wedding catering menu considerations. Plated dinners while they may appear more costly, actually allow you to preplan the amount of foot needed. It is important to get a complete listing for your number of guests and ask upfront for any variable costs that could occur. A budget alone should not be the all deciding factor. Guest Experience Are you trying to give a fancy dinner, evening wedding ambiance or a chic contemporary feeling to the event? This matters for food also. Pick your theme and then follow that through to the food, it can add to the overall experience or detract from your intent. Location Pick your location before the food, always! Trying to fit a bunch of servers into a small wedding space will not work or having food trucks at a fancy event hall may not work logistically well for the guest experience. It is critical that the theme of your wedding and location extend to the food. Schedule of event Another one not often thought of is the schedule of events. Some brides and grooms have a special dance, games, speeches, or even more innovative touches for their wedding. The food should play to this schedule of events, not detract. The wedding catering choice can make or break the event and add to memories or be the talking point of guest horror stories. It is important to pick a location before a menu, think through how the schedule of events will work, and your guest experience desires before you sit down to select a menu.
