At trendybikeclothing we have been biking for as long as we can remember, sometimes life gets in the way and we have a bit of time away, but we always find ourselves back to the trails.
So, if you trawl the internet or visit your local bike shop you will see bikes that up into the £1,000’s, well you don’t have to spend that to get started. You can have a look through the classified ads for a good second-hand bike or even ask a friend to borrow one to start of with and see if you are going to enjoy it. You can always get an expensive bike a lot further down the road.
So, mountain biking is a great form of exercise, it is a non-load bearing form of exercise, if you’re not doing massive jumps etc, so it is great for recovery for leg and knee injuries. What people are not aware off is that mountain biking optimises fat burning, so you get to have a great ride and burn fat.
It can be enjoyable going out on your mountain bike by yourself, but nothing beats going out with your family. Having that great day out as a family and having the kids learn a new skill or trick is priceless as you look at creating memories.
Do you need an excuse to see the great outdoors? Well mountain biking is that ticket to adventure and getting yourself into the outdoors. By using a bike, you can get to places that is not accessible by car, and there is no better feeling than standing on a cliff with a view that is mind blowing. With added benefits of fresh air and seeing what nature is available.
One of the great benefits of mountain biking is you get to visit new places, there is nothing more enjoyable than finishing the working week, packing up your gear and bikes and heading off for the weekend. Now there is a few options here, own a campervan? Even better. But you can camp, book a hotel, or even go and visit friends.
Mountain biking (and exercise in general) encourages you to set goals and promotes a sense of accomplishment when you work towards those goals. When you clear an obstacle on the trail for the first time or perfect a new skill it boosts your confidence.
So, you can be the mountain biker who just hits the trails for hours on end and that is all you want to do. Or you could be that thrill seeker who likes to push your own natural ability to the edge, going down a trail faster, hitting a berm harder and faster or learning to jump, there is no better feeling than getting the blood rushing.
There are two types of mountain bikers here, the doers and the payers. Now there is nothing wrong taking your mountain bike to a local bike mechanic to give it a service or for repairs, but if like a lot of people you don’t a wallet full of cash, learning to do some maintence yourself will really help you. If you are unsure where to start, searching online you will find millions of blogs, video’s and hot to guides.
Well one great benefit of mountain biking is that you get to wear no lycra, but that is always a personal preference. A lot of riders do wear undershorts to protect the nether regions, and most of them are lycra, but you get to cover that with loose fitting clothing. So why loose-fitting clothing? Well if your trying to do a bit of downhill, then you will need room under your clothing for the protective gear. So you can find a massive collection of mountain bike clothing online.
What you will find with mountain biking is that there is a great community of people, everywhere you go people will say hello and willing to answer questions if you have any on the area etc. If you have a local trail centre, you will also find people who will give you advice on how to improve your skills.
So there are the 10 great reasons why mountain biking is so much fun, and why you should start/ carry on with this great pastime. Remember, mountain biking can be started on any budget, so don’t get worried that you need £££’s, just a great attitude and the will to get fit, get outdoors and meet a great community.
