The ongoing pandemic of the COVID-19 has not been easy on anyone. And what has taken longer is the patience and the waiting eyes of the applicants. The UK visa and Immigration(The Home Office) understand this plight of the applicants and are coming up with alternatives to make sure the applicants don’t have to wait any longer. But, the delays can be expected.
How are UK visa and Citizenship Application Service centres(UKVCAS) processing? The UKVCAS centres are opened and running under the strict covid norms. The visa applicants must regularly check service point news whether the UKVCAS are running or closed on a particular date. There could be expected delays in the results however, if there is any change in your appointment and booking schedule, you will be well informed beforehand. Updates in your Biometric
Owing to the COVID restrictions, the Home office is now advising the visitor visa applicants to use the older Biometrics information that they had previously used to verify their identity. Applicants who are eligible under the biometrics reuse policy will be asked to use UKVCAS’ IDV app to make the application and submit the information to UKVI without any further need to attend a UKVCAS Service Point.
When applicants have completed their application online and been transferred from Access UK to the UKVCAS website, they will have a 240 days window to submit their biometrics, else their application will be closed.
How are UKVCAS responding to overseas applications? With little ease in the COVID restrictions, the priority and super priority services have slowly started to resume and very soon will be full fledgedly working.
The UK visa and immigration office is constantly advising visitor visa applicants to check with VFS and VAC websites for the status of their visa application.
If the visa applicants are traveling to the VACs then it is most advisable to observe COVID appropriate behavior and measures such as strictly adhering to the social distancing norms, wearing masks and coming in for temperature checks.
The processing time of UK visa applications Ideally speaking, the visa application processing for a visitor visa is 3 weeks. However, it largely depends on the country from where the application has been made, time and the prevailing COVID-19 restrictions.
Also, the eligibility, personal compelling circumstances of the visa applicant plays an important role in the application process.
Priority and super priority services Priority services are designed to help you get a faster decision under the most compelling circumstances and time constraints. Your documentation collection is done within 5 working days as a priority service package. While verifying your identity at a visa application centre you can check if this service is available in the country you are applying from, you can choose the priority service when making the application. There will be an additional cost for this service that you will pay along with your biometrics.
Your application will be processed within 5 working days of your appointment at the visa application centre. UK Visas and Immigration aims to make a decision on your super priority visa application within a day and contact you to let you know that your passport is ready to be collected by the end of the next working day provided you submit your biometric information.
When can you expect a delay with priority and super priority service? You might have to wait longer for a decision if your application is not straightforward and more information and additional documents are required before a decision can be finalised, such as the following:
