Teachers generally applaud the Leaving Cert English paper one as a rigorous and fair examination of test takers. Although it was on the ordinary level exam, the text regarding 1916 did not appear, despite the hopes of many upper level pupils. According to Lorraine Tuffy, an English teacher with Homeschool, it didn't have any major surprises, and the majority of the students would have been content with it. Examiners are catching up with the times, as evidenced by the fact that students were asked to write a blog post for the first time ever in a Leaving Cert paper.
Students take a two-year course of study in order to prepare for the Leaving Certificate Examination, a long-standing final exam for post-primary education in Ireland that serves as the primary criterion for allocating spots in third-level institutions.
