5 Ways to Have Fun without Ruining Dry January |
Posted: January 20, 2021 |
The Holiday Season seems like party after party, and drink after drink. Dry January, which means abstaining from alcohol in the first month of the new year, is an annual tradition for many people. For some, it’s part of a New Year’s resolution to drink less. For other people, it’s a way to "detox" from excessive drinking over the holidays. A lot of people report drinking more than usual lately, and evidence suggests people are using alcohol to help cope with stress caused by the pandemic. For this reason, you may be participating in Dry January because the isolation, stress, and loneliness of 2020 lead to a bit too many drinks. Whatever your reason for a Dry January was, you now need a way to pass the time all month in a new way.
#1 Throw a Sober Dinner Party. If "time with friends" always equals "drinking with friends," it's time to change the narrative. Invite your closest friends over for dinner and dessert. Substitute alcoholic beverages for delicious and refreshing fruit-infused cocktails. Keep the vibe classy and elegant.
#2 Look into cheap Slingshot rentals in Daytona Beach. We all know that booze and driving don't mix. Why not take advantage of less buzzed time by having more driving time? No, it's not a fun activity to just drive your sedan around. Book a really cool, really fun to drive vehicle and take it up and down the coast! A Slingshot rental cost in Daytona Beach is much less than you may imagine, and you can have the car for an hour, day, or whole weekend.
#3 Exercise. One of the best things about going a month without drinking is that you can really improve your health. Take it an extra step by not only avoiding extra calories, but even burning some more. Run, hike, do yoga, go for a bike ride, walk your dog, swim, or anything else you think is a fun way to get active. Just get out there, stretch it out, and break a sweat!
#4 Read a book. Remember when you were a kid and you loved to read? You can again! Visit a local book store and walk around. Or, head to the public library. Explore the many different titles and subjects that maybe you wouldn’t normally explore. Now that you'll have all your evenings sober, you can sit down and invest a few hours in a good book.
#5 Stress relieving coloring books. Who says kids should have all the fun! Those with anxiety and high-stress levels need a way to relax and unwind. Research has shown many benefits to this fun activity.
There you have it- Dry January doesn't have to be boring. Far from it! Look into the Slingshot rental cost in Daytona Beach, taking your dog for a long walk, and a few other activities, and you'll have passed the whole month away. Who knows, you may even have so much fun you decide you don't miss alcohol and make it a Dry February too!
